Creative Coding Companion
How did you come up with the idea for this product?
Root started in the robotics lab of Professor Radhika Nagpal at Harvard University. Digital literacy is one of the critical challenges facing education, and for Radhika it was especially important to make computer science meaningful and accessible to ALL kids, so we can have true diversity in our technological future.
What makes your product special?
With Root, our goal is to transform the home and classroom experiences with programming, by making it tangible and personal. Every kid should learn to code in a fun way, that enhances their personal interests, and that inspires them to become creative technologists themselves. We aim to be part of that revolution.
What has been the best part of your experience?
Enabling the magic moment of when a child bring’s Root into a classroom, puts their Root on the whiteboard on the wall, and gets to share their artwork drawn by code with the entire classroom. If you ever have a chance to see this happen, it is precious. Root is creating enabling moments for kids that has the potential to inspire their future path.
